The College Board has issued a stern warning for those seeking a degree in computer science: Stop applying now.
That means, of course, that you should not apply to any schools that will not accept you for a computer science degree.
The warning comes after a spate of news articles and blog posts about what students at the prestigious California school of computer science are experiencing.
In one instance, a student, who went by the name “Lionel,” said he received a “bombshell” letter that said his undergraduate degree from Caltech would not be accepted.
According to the student, his letter said the school was not accepting anyone for a “computer science program,” and that the school would be “taking steps to ensure this does not happen to any future students.”
Caltech has not confirmed the student’s account, but several people who have worked at the school have said it’s clear that the letter was received at the time, and that it has no impact on students’ application decisions.
The school also issued a statement that said, “We’re working hard to make sure that this does no happen again.”
